New year, new me. New Year’s resolutions. This is going to be the best year ever, and all the other New Year clichés you can think of. I don’t mind these aspirations or what to call it, but they never seem to work for me. The first days of January I still lay there in my bed watching YouTube videos and maybe a film or two, just as I did all the boring days the year before, and after those days it feels useless to try and change that bad habit. And if I set myself some New Year’s resolutions I promise you that I will have forgotten about them by the time of February.
I want this year to be different (and there comes another cliché!). I received this little thing the other day. It’s a 3-year diary where you write down a note about what you did that day, what the weather was like and other things you want to add. When you open the book you have the same date three times on each page, so when you write the second and third year you’ll see what you did that exact same day the year/-s before.
I thought that this could be my motivator to actually try to live my life to the fullest. When you write down the things you do, you want to do nice things, exiting things, things you’re proud of. I personally would like to fill my book with experiences, trips to different places in the world, new food I tried, how much I’ve exercised and so on.

This year, 2016, is my 18th year and also the year I graduate from high school or upper secondary school, therefore I decided to start writing a diary. At this moment in time I don’t know what I’m going to do after I graduate, I can continue to study at university, I can get a job, I can, and want to, travel, there are so many options out there. So I will write down every step I take towards my future in this diary. That may sound cheesy but what I mean is that I’ll write down everything I do, like trying out different jobs, or where I travel and what I experience, or the day I move out from my parents etc. And in three years time I can look back on all the things I did and where they took me.
I’m very excited to start writing, let me know if you are writing or want to start writing a diary as well, and if so, what you want to fill it with!
